Planes

Today after work I went to watch the planes. Living right next door to LAX is good for that sort of thing. It's funny to watch them take off while thinking about the people inside. What exactly are they doing? Listening their iPods? Reading? Trying not to breath in too deeply, for fear that they might inhale their neighbors' indeterminable, yet undeniable odor? Regardless of the way each passenger chooses to occupy his or her time, they all end up going to the same place (unless, of course, someone on board dies). Sometimes it's very stressful to me to consider that, several yards from my home, there is a rather large group of people trying to get somewhere other than where they are currently. Think for a moment. The people who have just arrived in Los Angeles certainly don't want to be at the airport for the remainder of their stay. Those catching connecting flights are merely passing through. And everyone else is leaving the city for work, vacation, or other various reasons. Now, try to picture yourself engaged in this state of constant motion every day that you come home from work. When you sit down to watch the television; when  you begin preparing dinner; when you're brushing your teeth; even when you pull the covers up over your arms to go to sleep... it's there. An all but subtle feeling that you're not going to arrive at your destination if you don't get to it! Simply put, if there was a way to aid each of these individuals in their travels, and assure them that they will get to where they're going without much fuss, I think my level of stress might be well affected. That being said, today has been a very stressful today - I'm sure you can see that living in such close proximity to an airport takes a lot out of you.

  1. I know I commented. I think it was something along the lines of you would say something about unless of course some where aboard where to die. But with all of these thoughts going through your mind I can see you this could be a draining place to live by :) regardless, (irregardless as Rachel would say) it something Daddy would love, so dont be too hard on it!
