Sore Throat

When I got home from work yesterday, I had a mini sore throat. So I went to sleep. At 6pm. This morning, I woke up with a medium sore throat. At 7am. So I went to work with Coconut Water in tow, drinking more liquid over the course of 9 hours than I have over the past year. I came home from work today, with a major sore throat. And now, we wait. For what? For Brent to get home with Wendy's burgers, fries, and and an ice cold lovely Coke! Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow...

Planes

Today after work I went to watch the planes. Living right next door to LAX is good for that sort of thing. It's funny to watch them take off while thinking about the people inside. What exactly are they doing? Listening their iPods? Reading? Trying not to breath in too deeply, for fear that they might inhale their neighbors' indeterminable, yet undeniable odor? Regardless of the way each passenger chooses to occupy his or her time, they all end up going to the same place (unless, of course, someone on board dies). Sometimes it's very stressful to me to consider that, several yards from my home, there is a rather large group of people trying to get somewhere other than where they are currently. Think for a moment. The people who have just arrived in Los Angeles certainly don't want to be at the airport for the remainder of their stay. Those catching connecting flights are merely passing through. And everyone else is leaving the city for work, vacation, or other various reasons. Now, try to picture yourself engaged in this state of constant motion every day that you come home from work. When you sit down to watch the television; when  you begin preparing dinner; when you're brushing your teeth; even when you pull the covers up over your arms to go to sleep... it's there. An all but subtle feeling that you're not going to arrive at your destination if you don't get to it! Simply put, if there was a way to aid each of these individuals in their travels, and assure them that they will get to where they're going without much fuss, I think my level of stress might be well affected. That being said, today has been a very stressful today - I'm sure you can see that living in such close proximity to an airport takes a lot out of you.

Incase anyone missed our Honeymoon, which it seems like most people decided to stay home for, here are some pictures from the event.

Welcome

Hello. In case you're just joining us, my husband and I just got married May 1st of this year, and are now living newly wed life in Los Angeles. We're both originally from Kansas City, but he took a job out here before we got engaged, and so goes life. I've moved many time before, and am no stranger to change, but, for some reason, change itself never seems to get any easier. In short, I miss the smell of fall in the air, I miss the Oak Park Mall, I miss blueberry pancakes on Saturday's at First Watch, and I miss my sisters most of all. There is one sister in particular whom I have quite an affinity for. I told her just last night that the reason we get along so well is merely due to taste and preference. For example, we both have extreme personalities. When we like things, we love them - and you'll know it. If we dislike things, we hate them - and you'll know that too. She's the reason I write this post now. She may very well be the only one who ever reads this, but to me, that's okay. There are many more stories to share; ones including other sisters and their quirky behaviors, a dad and his classically outdated metaphors, my husband and his sense of humor, and many other tales that will inevitably emerge from within this city of angels. For your enjoyment, here is a picture of my husband along with my two little sisters. You can decide who is who.
